Weeds are terrible. And some are worse than others, but there are no good weeds. Have you ever wondered why farmers seem like such great people, or often just seem to have super grounded wisdom? Well, that’s because they understand some facts of life that us city-dwelling folk just haven’t learned and seen in action so much.
My latest yard has a lot of weeds growing and they’re more of a problem here than they’ve been in yards past. Since it’s so hot and I don’t water much due to our local shortage all my yard grass looks dead and crab grass (a weed that loves heat and dry) is taking over. So many plants grew in Maryland that the weeds just kind of blended in with the grass and we picked them from our garden as normal, but the weeds here grow way better than the grass and while the crab grass takes over my lawn there’s a new ground cover weed taking over the berms.
Weeds proliferate at an amazing rate. If you don’t pick them as soon as you see them, they don’t just get big, but more of them grow. So you have to pick weeds on the regular-that is every few days, or at least once a week, or something like that before they take over. But they’ve taken over my yard and in order to get my yard looking good I’ll need to spend hours picking weeds. And so it is in our lives, if we don’t keep the bad stuff out it will spread until we have to focus on just removing the bad stuff to get back to normal. And if we don’t remove the weeds (bad stuff) then our lives will be a bit messy and just not quite as good as they could be.
So develop good habits and keep the weeds out.
Cheers-the runner.
